Summary

 

Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the CMM Operator/Programmer performs complex geometric dimensional inspections on first article, in-process and finished products, ensuring compliance to specifications.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Operate a CMM (PC-DMIS or Calypso). Programming experience in a plus.

 

  • Operate manual and DCC CMM’s.

 

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.

 

  • Assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.

 

  • Complete all required records and paperwork.

 

  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures (ISO 9000 Compliant).

 

Qualifications

 

  • Operate optical comparator and related peripherals.

 

  • Operate micrometers, indicators, calipers, height gage, etc.

 

  • Understands the care and use of pin gages, thread gages and gage blocks.

 

  • Understand complex dimensioning systems and can identify Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (“GD&T”) symbols.

 

  • Determine pass/fail on visual criteria under magnification and understands and can operate microscope.

 

  • Communicate with manager noted deviations from tolerances and quality.

                                                   

  • Good communication.

 

  • Troubleshooting skills a plus

  

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Requires a high school diploma or GED; minimum 5 year related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills

 

Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations. Ability to write documentation.

 

Reasoning Ability

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
