Injection Molding Maintenance/Building Facilities Technician
Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, rebuild, and installation of mechanical and auxiliary equipment; while supporting production to endure efficient operations and continuous improvement.
Injection Molding Duties and Key Responsibilities:
This list is not comprehensive but meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties may be required and/or assigned.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs for all molding and auxiliary equipment (i.e. - molding machines, robots, grinders, thermolators, chillers, conveyor systems, loading equipment, drying equipment) and anything else that aids and supports the production process.
- All completed PMs and repairs are documented within the ERP Software system.
- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
- Complete all maintenance department paperwork (i.e. - work orders, charts, etc.) and corresponding computer entry involving preventative maintenance scheduling, inventories, etc.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
- Perform various repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing and basic electrical. Troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
- Complete minor electrical work such as motor replacement, fuse replacement, switches, etc.
- Order replacement parts with diagnoses of problems with control systems and develop an organized approach to solving machine problems and repairs/replaces parts as required.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procure necessary components for maintenance and repairs.
- Handle quoting and vendor relationships for parts, supplies, machine manufacturers, as it relates to maintaining equipment and building facilities.
- Oversees outside vendors performing installations and projects at the facility.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
Facilities Manager duties and responsibilities
A Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining company’s grounds, buildings and equipment to ensure a safe and functional working environment.
- Manage and inspect facilities, equipment and supplies to meet health and safety regulations.
- Instruct team members on the best practices to maintain the property.
- Operate and maintain high power and/or high voltage equipment, such as: forklift, battery/manual pallet jack, scissor lifts, power tools, pressure washers, snow blowers etc.
- Inspect and replace filters on HVAC units and injection molding machines.
- Completing internal maintenance orders.
- Changing light bulbs and fixtures.
- Monitor and order cleaning supplies.
- Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.
- Seasonal outdoor groundskeeping duties as needed. Shovel, snow blow and ice sidewalks as needed.
- Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
- Collaborating with building owner on budgeting for facility’s needs.
- Creating and maintaining budgets for maintenance, repairs and contracts.
- Negotiating contracts with service providers.
- Planning, coordinating and overseeing all renovations, installations and refurbishments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in plastic injection molding.
- Previous experience as a maintenance technician in a plastics injection molding manufacturing environment preferred.
- Background experienced in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing and basic electrical circuit systems.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Strong attention to details and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Position Type/Hours of Work:
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 35 pounds.
- This is a full-time position. Hours are typically during 1st shift but may need to come in early or stay late.
