Welder/Fabricator

Milwaukee, WI

Posted: 06/05/2026 Industry: General Labor Pay Rate: $24-$28

Job Description

A setup welder might be a closer match: the welder fabricator has to learn how to look at the shop drawings, interpret what is required, lay it out, cut the material and fabricate the product. They may work on six or more totally different products in a week, each requiring different techniques. Lots of thinking and problem solving will be required. They need to be able to visualize how the product goes together from a two dimensional drawing to a 3D object.

This means that for most of the applicants, we have to do a lot of training. It's extremely unusual for a candidate to become productive before the 90 days are up. Attached is a copy of the job description. Please look at it carefully and screen applicants according to these requirements.

If the candidate has the necessary qualifications, share the job description with them to gauge their interest, then email their resume to us, including the results of any testing you have done. Welding candidates should have passed a math test.  A blueprint reading test would be helpful if possible.

A valid driver’s license with a clear driving record is also required – no suspensions, speeding tickets, OWI’s in the last three years.

When we have reviewed this information and feel the candidate has the skills for which we’re looking, we will email you an appointment time for the candidate.

If you have any questions, please email hr@badgerrailing.com.  No phone calls please.
